The Noid made its debut in Domino’s ads in 1986. That, too, hearkens back to the character’s history. Kenneth Lamar Noid, 22, was having an ongoing feud in his mind with the owner of Domino’s Pizza about the ‘Noid’ commercials, Chamblee, Ga. Profits from the merchandise will go to the Domino’s Partners Foundation, an independent internal nonprofit that provides financial assistance to the chain’s workers in need. The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Domino’s is also bringing the character to the mobile game Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! While Noid ate the pizzas with his gun in his lap, the hostages escaped and Noid surrendered to police shortly after. Noid eventually became hungry and forced the employees to make him two special pizzas. The Noid is a cartoon character that served as Domino’s mascot in the ‘80s and ‘90s. After telling the employees that Domino’s owner Tom Monaghan had stolen his name, he forced them to call Domino’s headquarters and demand $100,000 and a white limousine as getaway transportation. According to the marketing materials, the Noid is doing this to fund future schemes. Deemed to be a paranoid schizophrenic, he was. (Only Domino's pizzas were Noid-proof.) In 1989, Kenneth Noid had grown convinced that the campaign was specifically targeting him, so he took two Domino's employees hostage at a store in Atlanta. Clad in a red, skin-tight, rabbit-eared body suit with a black N inscribed in a white circle on his chest, the Noid was a physical manifestation of all the challenges inherent in getting a pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less.
